Site Promotion Tips
Site Promotion Tip #1
Put your domain
name on everything. Put it in your ads, on your business card, in
your press releases. Put it on your pens, caps, coasters, t-shirts.
Put it everywhere.
Site Promotion Tip #2
If you are
not going to have me do your site promotion, go ahead and do it
yourself at www.submit-it.com.
For about 60 bucks you can promote two websites (it's the minimum
buy). Follow the instructions and you are on your way.
Site Promotion Tip #3
Do a newsletter.
Check out listbot.com. That's
where I got mine.
Site Promotion Tip #4
Get the sig
file (signature file) going on your e-mail so that your domain name
goes out on every e-mail that you send. This little tool adds your
contact information to every thing that you send out. You can find
this in the preferences in your e-mail client.
Site Promotion Tip #5
If you are
an expert on anything that is related to your industry, or even
something that is unrelated (such as some sport or hobby), go to
deja.com, join and start participating
in discussion groups in your arena. But don't blatantly promote.
Read the discussion group guidelines to find out what is acceptable
in the particular newsgroup. Tip#4 will make your occupation and
your website automatically visible to everyone. You may be able
to ask for comments on your site. You can ask questions and if you
answer them intelligently people will be drawn to you and what you
do.
Site Promotion Tip #6
Give something
away on your site: news, information, product knowledge, links to
your industry, something, anything to give something back. The web
was born and thrives in a spirit of giving and mutual entertainment.
Put some energy in and it will be obvious and may well be appreciated
and rewarded. Be involved with the web, not just selling there.
Sure, open up a store, but then live, breathe, and shop in the community,
Site Promotion Tip #7
More to come.....
(stay tuned, here and elsewhere...) There's always some new angle
emerging...
