Austin
The program at Texas Culinary Academy
is comprehensive, and a few years back it was enhanced
by its association with the International Cordon Bleu
Culinary schools program. That means that international
chefs are continually on loan to the Texas facility,
plus the faculty often rotate overseas to pick up
new skills and perspectives.
Yes, you'll learn to cook, right there
in the fun city of Austin - arguably the most culturally
rich burg in Texas. But you'll learn more than that,
since classes in Computer Science, College Math, Introduction
to Psychology, English Composition and Fundamentals
of Public Speaking will ensure that you are an educated
and articulate cook, not just a knife wielding food
processor without a sense of what's going on in the
world.
On the other hand, you WILL be a cook,
studying sanitation, basic techniques, proteins preparation,
"garde manger" (cold foods), baking, pastry,
hospitality, cost controls, wine/beverage, and hot
foods preparation. find out more about the schools
own world class restaurant in which you'll get to
cook
The school has an active and highly
successful job placement program which fields job
offers from all over the world. The challenge for
you looks like that big decision between continuing
to live in the back room of your parents house or
taking the job in Vail, Colorado (or Paris, New York,
San Diego, L.A., Atlanta, etc.). Tough decision.
This school has a lot to offer so
