Imagining November 3
Imagining November 3
Just today I imagined, for the first time, what November third will
feel like. I'm talking, of course, about the day after John Kerry wins
this election.
Just thinking about that day, when many of us will breathe easily
again, when the whole world will rejoice about an America that has come
back to it's senses, when we (not much later) will no longer have to
listen to reports of what Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield and Condi did... When
we can look forward to these neocons slinking off into the corner from
which they emerged.. When this administration has been finally and
irrevocably repudiated.
Yes, that will be a day.
I already know what the alternative would be... since we already live
under the oppressive rule of these, the recycled versions of the Ugly
American.... So another four years would simply be more idiocy, but for
a longer time.
But, just today I thought, what if, and only if, that happy day comes,
on November 3.
What a party!
And then, after that, when those guys bitch, and moan, and second
guess, and criticize whatever it is Kerry and company do with this mess
that they've created, they will no longer have credence, since now we
know what they are, and theirs is not the voice of reason, common
sense, or even conservatism, but the rough sound of the brutish minded
few, who actually liked the twentieth century, and believe it's still
happening...
They have been out of their dark closets now, for several years, and in
the light of these days we have seen them for what they are... not the
patriots they claim to be, not the fiscal conservatives that they think
they are, but a simple minded folk, unaccustomed to higher thinking,
and unsuited for higher office.
This was the last age of the dinosaurs.
They had their slow moving, cranially underpowered brontosauri, they
had their defensive, clumsy stegosauri, they even had a vicious
Tyrannosaur or two, but just now, almost November, with snowflakes on
their way, it's cool to think of them frozen, under ice, forever, like
enormous bugs in white amber.
